Name The Tree Contest

In January of 2017 a 53" diameter Live Oak tree located on the site for the Buda Municipal Complex was moved from the spot where it had grown for more than 250 years to a new location on the southeast corner of the property. The tree stands there today, beautiful and healthy!

To commemorate this amazing move and this tree's will to survive, The Friends of the Buda Library, in coordination with the City of Buda, are conducting a contest to name this marvelous Heritage Oak.

Watch the tree's full journey in timelapse!

You are invited to submit a name which, if selected by the Name the Tree Committee and is in accordance with the City of Buda guidelines, will be on the ballot to be voted on by the citizens of Buda in the coming months.

Click HERE to make your suggestion and tell us why you think it would make a great name!

Please include your full name, email, and phone number.

Please submit your entry no later than June 30, 2019.

Entries can also be sent to The Friends of the Buda Library P.O. Box 1162, Buda, TX  78610

Please note that there is no “winning prize” other than having participated in a city-wide event and having been recognized as the winning name submitter at the dedication.   In submitting a tree nomination, the submitter relinquishes all rights and claims to use of the name.

The dedication will take place on August 24, the one-year anniversary of the Municipal complex and the new library, of which we are most proud.
