While Mayor George Haehn amended his April 21, 2020 order to mirror the Executive Orders to open Texas issued by Governor Greg Abbott, the City of Buda (and library) will continue operating virtually until further notice. Learn more.
Our board and committees continue to meet virtually as well, and are focusing on promoting the library's amazing array of online resources at Buda Library at Home. We're happy to report the library has resumed curbside service! Learn how to reserve books, audio books, DVDs and CDs for pickup during designated times here.
In other news:
Thanks to our Events Committee for leading our efforts to celebrate library staff safely from a distance during National Library Week. They delivered cereal bowls with holders and matching cloth bookmarks for each staff member as a token of our appreciation. Staff members Pamela and Marcos are pictured below with the set.
The COVID-19 pandemic may have upended our lives but we're all finding ways to stay hopeful and connected to our families, friends and community. We know the only way to get through this is (alone) together.
Please know we continue to be dedicated to our mission to support the Buda Library and our community. We'll continue to share updates and resources from our library and partners here and via social media.
While events are canceled, and fundraising efforts suspended for now, our board and committees continue to meet virtually. We'll be prepared to hit the ground running when life returns to normal (or whatever comes after this).
We're so proud of the work our library staff has done to continue offering top notch programs and services online. The annual Spring Fling will be fully accessible from home! We hope you'll join the celebration April 15-22. The library will offer a variety of online activities, art projects, and more.
We look forward to the day we can celebrate together (together) again...until then, take good care of yourself and your family.
Thank you for being a Friend!
We hope this finds you and your family healthy and safe. Below are updates and resources regarding current events. For the latest updates on Coronavirus (COVID 19), its impact on our community and the Stay Home, Work Safe Order for Hays County visit the City of Buda.
While the Buda Public Library is closed until further notice:
Visit the library's new "Buda Library at Home" web page to check out ebooks and audio books, learn a new language, discover fun programs and storytimes, and more. If you don't have a library card, call the library at 512-295-5899 (Mon-Fri from 10 am - 5 pm) and staff will help you get one.
As a reminder, the City of Buda has canceled all City-sponsored events until April 12. The Stay Home, Work Safe is effective March 26- April 10, 2020, unless extended or canceled.
For the Friends of the Buda Library:
Finally, please take a few minutes to help shape the future our community by responding to the 2020 US Census. It only takes 10 minutes and your response will help our community for the next 10 years! Respond from the comfort of your home online, by phone or by mail. Census data helps determine how billions of dollars in federal funding will be distributed to states and communities—funding for schools, hospitals, libraries, emergency readiness and more.
We're happy to announce two new partnerships to benefit our community and library:
A very special thanks to Texas Lehigh Cement Company for their $500 donation to benefit the Buda Library!
We've partnered with the US Census Bureau to help promote the importance of participating in the upcoming 2020 Census. Results from the Census will help determine how billions of dollars in federal funding will be distributed to states and communities—funding for education, hospitals, libraries, roads and more. See what's at stake for our community here or access resources via the City of Buda's Complete Count Committee.
